What scleral lenses are
Scleral lenses are larger than regular contacts. Instead of resting on the cornea, they vault over it and land softly on the white of the eye (the sclera). The extra size makes them easier to handle, more stable on the eye, and far less likely to dislodge. They're rigid gas permeable, so oxygen still reaches the cornea — and the space between lens and cornea holds a thin reservoir of fluid that keeps dry eyes comfortable for hours.
